HIRING: Human Resources / Organizational Health 1099 Consultant

Overview and Role 

The Human Resources / Organizational Health Consultant will ensure Chicago Votes is building a positive team culture, following state and federal compliance laws, help with assisting the board, providing professional development opportunities and helping with HR.  They will work directly with Chicago Votes staff and board members. 

Responsibilities 

Team Culture 

  • Help build a positive team working culture
  • Provide conflict resolution trainings that are a restorative approach 
  • Provide employment law trainings
  • Encourage positive communication amongst the team 
  • Provide open communication opportunities
  • Assist leadership in development of productive management techniques
  • Facilitate team retreat and team building activities 
  • Ensure team is keeping the office clean and professional

Compliance 

  • Provide 501c3 compliance training to ensure work is applicable to state and federal law
  • Provide support to Diversity Equity and Inclusion Manager to ensure ideas turn into action
  • Ensure all Illinois employment laws are followed

Board

  • Support board personnel committee 

Professional Development

  • Provide professional development training opportunities for all staff 

General HR 

  • Monitor and ensure staff attendance is tracked within the time off request form
  • Facilitate team 360 review process and mid year reviews
  • Ensure timesheets are completed by staff and program participants.

Hiring

  • Oversee all onboarding and offboarding processes
  • Facilitate and improve on/offboarding check list and ensuring release of claims is honored
  • Facilitate staff hiring processes

Knowledge | Skills 

Some other things we’re looking for: 

  • Proven and highly effective restorative justice background
  • A track record of successful team mediation 
  • A self-starter that can show strong initiative and work independently 
  • Strong affinity for organizational health and building positive relationships
  • Ability to reference current state and federal laws
  • Ability and excitement to work within diverse and underrepresented communities 
  • Culturally competent and comfortable discussing race, gender, and power

Interviews:  Rolling admission 

  • Time commitment: 10 – 20 hours per week
  • Compensation: $25.00- $30.00 per hour as 1099 
  • Benefits: Transportation stipend, Internet Stipend
