Governor and Senate
Illinois Governor
The Governor is responsible for implementing state laws and overseeing the operation of the state executive branch. As state leaders, Governors advance and pursue new and revised policies and programs using a variety of tools, among them executive orders, executive budgets, and legislative proposals and vetoes. As chiefs of state, Governors serve as intergovernmental liaisons to the federal government on behalf of the state.
The lieutenant governor oversees specific state functions, managing intergovernmental relations, serving as a bridge to the legislative branch, and carrying out duties assigned by the Governor.

They also represent the U.S. and Chicago in Washington, D.C.
