HIRING: Grant Writer

Start Date: August 1, 2024

Overview 

The Grant Writer will execute the writing and submission of grant applications for Chicago Votes aligned with the goals set forth by the Chicago Votes development team. They will work directly with Chicago Votes staff to execute the 2024 Chicago Votes Development plan. 

Role & Responsibilities 

The Grant Writer will support the Development team to accomplish their goal of increasing the reach of their network and diversifying our income sources through grants. This grant writer will focus on helping Chicago Votes secure new funding relationships.

Role Execution 

  • Research new grants resulting in the drafting, editing, and submission process start to finish for new grant prospects
  • Meet weekly with and report directly to the Development and Operations Manager to track grant and LOI submissions in the grant tracker system. 

Knowledge | Skills

  • Proven and highly effective organizational and written/oral communication skills 
  • A track record of successful grant writing
  • A self-starter that can show strong initiative and work independently 
  • Strong affinity for networking and building strategic relationships 
  • Ability to work efficiently under tight deadlines 
  • Ability to work within diverse and underrepresented communities 
  • Culturally competent and comfortable discussing race, gender, and power

Logistics 

Timeline & Benefits:

  3. Start Date: August 1, 2024 
    • Time commitment: 20 hours per week
    • Compensation: $25.00 per hour, Part time, non exempt
    • Benefits: Transportation stipend, Internet Stipend
