Chicago’s Next Generation of Leaders
DemocracyCorps is a ten-week political training program for young leaders (like you!) Fellows spend the summer in Chicago, grassroots organizing, developing leadership skills, and managing and formulating campaigns. Alumni leave the program with the ability to be champions for the issues they are passionate about. The Fellowship is an intensive, intentional, and transformative experience for folks who are ready for public service.
Fellows take classes from progressive experts from across the city. Community leaders from all sorts of fields (political reform, social justice, music and media) give presentations, workshops and trainings to fellows. Participants also learn how to use blogs, social media and traditional media to engage and inform their peers in creative ways.
Fellows learn how to develop and implement campaign plans from hands-on work. Think one part classroom to two part direct action. In addition to receiving training in innovative campaign management and organizing skill, you will put your new found skills in the field.
DemocracyCorps is an incredible opportunity to create real change. It’s also really fun! Sorta like summer camp, but with the coolest people you’ve ever met.
The less interesting but definitely-read-this fine print. Our summer 2013 program runs from June 24 – August 26, and is based in Chicago, Illinois. Scholarships for financial stipends are available for qualifying fellows. The early decision application deadline is April 12th, and the final deadline is May 17. 2013 applications are now closed.
