DemocracyCorps is for junior/senior colleges students,  recent graduates or leaders walking alternative paths who are ready to enter the sphere of public interest advocacy, community organizing and politics. Basically if you are down for movement building, this is for you!

The application process has 4 easy steps:

(1) Send your resume, cover letter explaining why your awesome and two professional references. (Email all to Rudy@chicagovotes.com)
(2) An in-person or over the phone interview with one of the alumni, board members or organizers.
(3) A final interview with the Director.

When should I apply?
Our summer program runs June through August in the heart of Chicago. We accept applications through out the year but make sure you get it in before June!

How soon will I know if I got in?
The whole 4-step process can happen as quickly as a week, or it can take a couple months — depending mostly on you. We review applications as they are submitted.

Who Should Apply?
DemocracyCorps Fellows are 20-25ish years old. They are college juniors, seniors, recent graduates (alternative backgrounds welcome) and community leaders who have demonstrated commitment to progressive values. DemocracyCorps Fellows are as diverse as our beautiful city and come from a range of experiential and cultural backgrounds. Fellows hold a deep interest in the political process and public policy. Extensive campaign experience is not a prerequisite for the program, but an understanding of campaign / organizing lifestyles does help folks make the most of the summer experience.
